Discrimination

When applying for a job a potential employer cannot ask about your religious or political beliefs. They cannot ask your sexual orientation. They cannot  ask these questions because it would be deemed "discrimination" if they denied you the position.

Question; Why is it okay for the city of Boston to deny a commercial permit to a company based on their beliefs? Is that not discrimination? Or does discrimination only apply to protected and controversial groups of people, as opposed to anyone with "traditional" beliefs and values?

I stand with Chick-fil-A not because I'm ignorant and close-minded, but because I believe in the freedom of speech and am aware of the hypocrisy taking place in our modern culture.
